For the Pentium Pro line of CPU's, which are pretty old, there are 256k, 512k, and 1Mb Cache pipeways. I just purchased a dual Pentium Pro workstation and has 512k cache on both CPUs. However, I'm planning on changing the CPU's with 1mb Pro CPU's. Since all this info is old and I can't get information on the mobo max capabilities. Could I just assume that the 1MB cache CPU's would work? I wouldn't lose anything since I would just return the CPU's if they didn't work. Are they compatible?

As long as the two Ppros are identical (check model number), they will work in your dual motherboard.
