I set up a small peer-to-peer network with W2K machine(FAT), a Win98 and a WinME. Everything is fine re: sharing etc...except the ME can't access the W2k. The 98 can. Both can access the ME. Does ME require special settings on the W2k machine? Why is it different than the Win 98? Anybody have any ideas?

The ME isn't getting a Network Logon prompt. I checked to make sure that "logon and restore connections" was checked, still no prompt. I think the OS is getting a little shaggy. Finding a lot of corrupt files. Maybe a re-install? Maybe a real operating system!

Do you have the client for microsoft networks installed/setup? Matt Wray

I installed Client for ms networks, but after the required restart it disappeared. Took me four tries, and then it stayed, but even after selecting "logon and restore connections" still no logon prompt.( I even tried "Join an NT Domain" to see what would happen. Nothing.) This is a Dell laptop with the Windows ME preinstalled. It came with a built-in NIC that looks okay in Device Manager and Networking "properties", but the machine doesn't recognize a network connection. So I installed a PC card, which the machine does recognize, but not the connection. (I verified the cable as good) During all this I got the blue screen twice and a "corrupted file" error message. Previously this machine has been using a dialup connection with MSN and seen only limited use. I suspect that the MSN browser has something to do with this. Any ideas?

Can you access the NIC properties? Hsve you made sure TCP/IP is correctly setup, or tried reinstalling it? Just trying to think of things you might try. Matt Wray
