We are using individual CLANS for each our LSP sites to register to so that they fall into the correct Network Region. We also do this so that when folks use IP Softphone/One-X Communicator they can choose the CLAN they want in order to use the ISDN PRI from their specific site.

With PE - how can you separate different Network Regions? It's almost like having (1) CLAN, but obviously 4 times the amount of devices can register to it.

I'm not using PE yet, but I do have all my LSP sites register to a group of CLAN's. I use the IP network map to get them into separate network regions. This table will allow you to map a block of IP addresses to a NR.

Now this won't solve your issues with softphone. If your users VPN into your network odds are they all get an IP address in the same subnet so you probably just default them all to the same NR or continue to do what you currently are doing with a CLAN for each NR.

I use the network-map extensively, but it doesn't really help when they all come into one Firewall.

The answer from Avaya is to wait until May for CM6.x... They'll offer Station Dialplan or something to that affect which will allow you to leverage PE and still offer local dialing rules for phones.
