We are getting ready to roll out some reports that will be delivered via email to business partners as pdf's. One question that just came up was what if the business partner had their own copy of Acrobat and decided to edit the file we sent them (we will have all versions archived internally for validation). I'm hoping that there is an option I can pass in to set the security so this will never be an issue. Is this possible? We are creating the pdf's using VBScript.

Thanks,
Larry

This is not possible using just the Crystal runtime components. If you want to protect the PDF, you would need to program that step using other tools.

What if they use a PDF to something converter?

What if they just make something up without starting with your PDF, or build one themselves?

I'd suggest to this person raising this flag that they're NOT an attorney, and shouldn't consider becoming one (or perhaps bring it to the attention of that person's Manager), and that they speak with one prior to causing costly rewrites of software because they have no idea of what they are legally obligated to do in good faith.

If someone is going to use such a primitive means to try to cheat you they're probably not smart enough to worry over.

If you have legal concerns associated with what you're exporting to them, save a copy.
