PDC starts and then stops

I removed two driveletters from my WIN2K AS on which no system files were located or running (e: and f to make a striped volume. After restarting some shares were removed, which i had expected, but suddenly my server was no PDC anymore !!
The appropriate services on the server are all started when the server boots up (i saw this happening whilst monitoring the server with dameware nt utilities) and after approx. 5 min the PDC services (or dependant) are failing...
When i try to restart the server (lanmanserver) in the services panel, sometimes the server acts as a PDC and then fails again.
Almost every exchange related service fails to on exchange but i can start them succesfully manual, but still the server doesn't act as PDC...
Any hints ?

I've been trying to uninstall exchange, because its services are giving "hung on starting" errors in the event viewer. This doesn't workl because i get a message that i have to disable some accounts' mailbox...
