PDC Problems

Help Quick!

I have an NT domain and have been having problems with authentication. This is what I have done:

1)Turned off pdc
2)Promoted BDC to PDC
3)New PDC shows up as PRIMARY in Server Manager - o.k.
4)Rebooted PDC and now cannot see PDC in Server Manager, hence cannot add to/remove from domain!

error messsage in event viewer:error 7023
workstation service terminated with the following error:-
workgroup or domain name is in use by another computer on the network


error messsage in event viewer:error 3932
xxxx is not a valid workgroup or domain name

please note(xxxx is the name of my companies domain)


help please!

how about the orginial PDC, is that still listed ?
can you rename it ?

Original PDC is off the network (shutdown). Regards

what you do with the PDC other than taking it offline, does it still have the same name even thought it is not online or listed ?

Thanks for your time - the problem is now sorted. Multiple Wins entries for the same PDC were found in the WINS databases. These were deleted and all is now o.k.
