Good day to all...

I'm working on a Dell Latitude D610 (XP Pro, SP1).
I'm attempting to install a scanner (Epson Perfection 4870 Photo) but need the PCI to MicroChannel Bridge driver (windows detects this first). I've tried installing the Epson drivers for the scanner but this hasn't worked. I've been unable to find anything Dell website.

Hi Muthabored

Odd - if you install the driver first, normally windows then happily copes with the whole shebang when it detects new hardware.

You did install the driver before connecting the scanner? (like it says in the setup instructions on Epson's site!)

Ummmm...no, I didn't (oops).
So should I disconnect the scanner, uninstall/reinstall the Epson drivers and THEN reconnect it (the scanner)?

I guess stranger things have happened but now the scanner shows up in My Computer as a device and it actually scans. However, Windows still detects the PCI to MicroChannel Bridge while the Device Manager shows it as needing drivers (yellow circle/black exclaimation point). There are no other peripherals installed except for the scanner...hmmm.

perhaps it needs SP2? (though if its actually working...)

FYI muthabored:
I run Win 2000 Server and experience the exact same problem with PCI to Micro Channel Bridge that needs a driver. -However, I did not install any bit of software before I got this error. It only came after physically moving the Server.
It might be some hardware that came loose during transport? I see a similar post here
The error gives me no noticeable problems so far.
