I have a PC running 32-bit Vista. Lately, it won't stay online and it doesn't seem to be the network itself. I have a Lynksys Wireless N router that is less than a year old. I have a Belkin wireless N adapter. My Network card is NVIDIA nForce Networking Controller (I guess). The device manager says both are working properly. Any suggestions? My provider says it must be my card or adapter. My router and modem seem to work okay because my laptop will stay online. I will sincerely appreciate any help you can give. I like typing on a PC.

Are there any power saving options set (on the Network Card) that are making hardware turn off?

There was a run of problems with Nvidia Network Adapters not so long ago, maybe you have that problem but it is not likely if you only have a problem with Wireless that doesn't use Nvidia?

Are you losing connection between the router and the modem?
when you lose internet does your network drop out and start searching for a network?
do you have Norton or mcafee?
routers die...watch yours and try to access the router web page when the internet drops

I thought the Belkin wireless N adapter and the Nvidia card worked together. Since I can only connect wirelessly, I guess the Belkin is the problem. Now I can't get online at all through my PC. I did go in and change the power settings. I don't think the router or modem are at fault because I'm online with no problem on my laptop. I'll look at those links you sent thank you so much.

If you right-click on the Network Connection Icon in the Notification Area, you will have the option to Diagnose and Repair the connection.

Typing this command into an elevated command prompt is also useful.

Netsh Winsock Reset

If you had Internet yesterday but not today, then System Restore might help.

Thank you for the information. I'm printing it out for next time. I probably just wasted my money, but I just bought a
new adapter to replace the Belkin and so far it works. Thank you so much.
