Need help. After clicking Start>Shutdown>Standby, my PC won't revert back to normal mode. It continuously keep in standby mode whether I move the mouse, press spacebar (spacebar is in Setup WakeUp Keyboard). OS is Win 98SE and had already installed the MS shutdown patch for 98SE.
The display settings: Power schemes HOME/OFFICE DESK, System Standby AFTER 20 MINS, Turn Off Monitor AFTER 5 MINS, Turn Off HD AFTER 15 MINS.

Bios Set-up>Power: Video Off Option ALWAYS ON, Video Off Method DPMS OFF, HDD Power Down DISABLED, Suspend Mode 20 MINS, Pwr Button <4 sec SOFT OFF.
Power Up Control> AC Power Loss Restraint DISABLED, Pwr Up on External Modem Act DISABLED, Wake on Lan or PCI Modem DISABLED,
Pwr Up on PS2 KB/Mouse AUTO (though my mouse is connected to serial port. Should I change to PS2?), Wake up Keyboard SPACEBAR, Auto Power Up DISABLED. Need advise.

Does my Yamaha DS-XG sound card driver need be re-installed?

Windows 98 was programmed by Microsoft...

Seriously, though, most computers that I've dealt with with Windows 98 have problems with standby mode, and especially have troubles when the harddrives are set to power down in the power management control panel.
