Hi I've got:

MSI KT7 Pro Motherboard
AMD Athlon XP 2000+
ATI Rage 128 (8mg) AGP
256 DDR Ram
Win XP Pro

I'm trying to install a GeForce 2 MX400 (64Mg SDR Ram) but when I install the card and plug the monitor in, the computer beeps every 1 second and will not boot.

If I unplug the monitor, with the card installed the PC seems to boot (No Onboard graphics so cant check).

The ATI Rage 128 card is also an AGP card and works fine?

Please help
Thanks
Matt.

Does the pc beep....if so describe it. ITs almost certainly a faulty card/damaged slot.

Check in your BIOS if the option "Primary Display Device" is set to AGP. Also be sure to enable the option "P&P OS".

One thing some people seem to overlook is that an AGP card has to be pushed completely into the slot. If you can still see the copper contacts of the card then it isn't in deep enough and the contacts short eachother out. If you can't push it in deeper, then the bracket is probably pressing against the case and you will have to get a different bracket. But please don't go force the card in further if it is already all the way in. Maybe you already looked at this, but it is a common problem with agp cards.
