PC with static IP taking a dhcp assigned address

Most of our PC's have static addresses that match their PC names such as PC106 has .106 for an IP address. I noticed that my dhcp server (which has a small scope , 11 addresses) ran out of addresses today and looking at the logs showed me that this PC took two dynamic addresses today as well as the static address assigned to the PC. Verified MAC address is that particular PC which is running XP . ipconfig at the PC shows one address, the correct one.

DHCP server is running on Centos 5.3

Anyone else seen this ? I don't even see how it can happen.

I also noticed that I cannot ping those two dynamically assigned addresses but I can ping the static one assigned to the PC

It sounds like the PC may have temporarily taken the dynamic IP addresses and then stopped using them, but they haven't expired yet. Check the TTL on the dynamic addresses and make sure it has a short refresh and expiration.
