I recently installed Win 2000 prof. Most seems OK. Every noew and then it will just freeze for about 10 seconds. This happens evry 10 minutes or so and it doesn't appear related to anything in particluar. This didn't happen with Win 98.

Has anyone else experienced this? _____________

Is there anything in Event Viewer relating to these freezes? (I've never seen/heard of this with win2k).

Hi
One cause could be that your pc is set to go to screen save mode in 10 minutes but the screen saver programme is no longer available.

hey i have the same problem pretty much... and i have formated and reinstalled at least 10 times and it wont go away. for some reasin winlogin.exe is using 95% of my CPU. can anyone help me?

To Killermike:
Have you run a good up-to-date virus cleaner?
Ran into that recently, winlogin then explorer would consume 90% of CPU. It was two versions of Nimda my sys did not recognize. Update and run, all is fine.

Note: for anyone in need of a quick vrus fix, panda.com has a free over the internet scan. It works good enough to get you back on track and install or update for a proper fix.

Best of luck. Both of my 2K pc's have not run into the 10 minute hang.

Thanks, I have the full Norton suite. I still need to re-install that.

I just reformatted the drive and reinstalled 2000 and all seems well so far.

I really appreciate all of the tips. _____________
