I've searched the forums already so if this has been addressed, I apologize. I just want to make sure that there haven't been any new ideas on this topic.

I do all the pc imaging (among other things) here and I have a unique situation that I knew would one day come. I have to migrate a pc for one of our engineers and he has a lot of applications installed on his old laptop. Setting up a new machine from scratch is going to be a bear. Is there a migration tool that would help with this? I know there are plenty of desktop migration techniques, but I'm looking for an application migration tool of sorts.

create a image, load it on the new pc, boot from a xp disk, do a repair (not the first repair question, there u say install).

when done boot normal, install missing drivers, done
