Hi guys,

I'm experiencing pc hangups whenever I install Windows XP installation particularly during the part after I entered my serial number. I suspected that it may be memory so I tried changing the memory with another that I know is working well. However, same situation happens. I've tried this several times already.

Are there any other hardware related issues that may be causing the hang up?

When you formatted the hard drive, did you do a quick format with the win xp install cd?

Things that could be suspect:

1) Damaged XP disk
2) CDrom not reading the disk propery
3) Bad IDE ribbon cable
4) Plug in device (PCI cards, USB/Firewire lan devices etc) causing hang, best take back to bare minimum config.
5) Memory fault (you've tried that)
6) Set bios to low performing defaults check for correct CPU front side bus and memory settings.
