I'm am building a pc for audio recording, I don't realy know the best way to go, AMD or P-3 or P-4. I also want a motherboard that can support atleast 1gig of ram, and what is a good board for pc150, and is that a big jump over pc133? This is my first post and I don't want to ask a lot of questions, but the last thing I would like to ask is what is the fastest most stable drive format: scsi,ata100,firewire,usb?

If you are building a PC primarily for Audio recording, I'd say to go for an AMD motherboard and CPU. P4s are too expensive for what they are, and the AMD 1.0 gigahertz has even been rated equal in speed and efficiency to the Intel P4 1.7 gigahertz! For and AMD system, DDR-RAM (PC1600 or 2100) will be a necessity, don't worry, though, it costs about the same as PC133\150. The Abit KG7-RAID will support 4 GIGS of DDR_RAM, so this may be the board of choice. SCSI is the most powerful format of the 4 listed, however, it is also the most expensive, and in my opinion (unless limitless funds are available), not worth it. ATA-100 has an internal transfer maximum of 100 MB\sec., and is MUCH cheaper than SCSI, and less complicated at that. I hope this answered any questions you had, and don't hesitate to ask anymore if needed.
