PC Disconnects after 3-4 minutes

Every time I connect to the internet and browse or use my email, the PC disconnects after 3-4 minutes. It is very consistent, although the times vary slightly but within the 3-4 minute range.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be? Some setting I can't see. The outgoing phone line is good because I use it all day on my MAC and switch only to the PC when I need it. PC has internal modem. Do not have DSL, just dial-up.

I had one like this; tried all sorts of settings for a week; then replaced the modem - fine after.
