Has anyone ever tried using muti-track options on a cisco switch running advanced IP services?

We really need to get this feature to work. I have both 3750's that sit at the core of branch offices, with 2 routers hanging off them, each router connected to a different provider for MPLS connectivity to the HQ office.

We use EIGRP to load balance between the routers but there are instances where we want traffic (based on network source or destination) to go down a particular pipe if available since that vendor gives us end to end QOS. So I put in a route-map policy. Which is fine, unless the lan link on a given router dies.

The switch to which that router connects immediately fails over and uses whichever provider is still up for all traffic...but the routers in the other offices, not knowing the lan link has failed, continue to send return packets back to the failed office using the 'prefered' link, which of course the packets never arrive. We might as well have no fail over at all.

I have been able to get the route-map to verify availabily using CDP for the local interface, but what I really need to do is track the link at the other end of the pipe.

I found this document: At the end of this article is a list of features/releases.

It looks to me like this collection of commands SHOULD work on 3750's running 12.2(46)SE. It does not. In fact as far back as the 12.2(18) train I can't get it to work. I've tried 12.2(25r)SEE4; 12.2(44)SE5 as well...You can configure the commands as the document says but when you apply the policy to the vlan interface, while you get no error, it will not set a policy.

It will set the policy if I stick with simple CDP methods to verify availability.

I talked to TAC and they said, "Oh, it's because you have a switch, not a router". HUH? I thought IOS was IOS! If you have the right version/train you should get the feature set listed...I have a 6513 with the exact same issue, it will accept the commands but not apply the route-map to the interface. It's maddening!

Any thoughts?
