My mom has a Pavillion (not sure of model, but about 2 years old). We went out of town and she unplugged everything in case of power outage (but it is all connected to an APS backup). She had no problems with it before we left. Now, we're back, plugged everything back up, tried to turn it on and - nothing. It doesn't power up at all. No sound, beep, fan running, etc. All other peripherals work fine.

We tried unplugging, using different outlet, using different power cord, so far, no use.

Any suggestions or ideas?

was it left plugged into the phone line? If there was a thunderstorm it could have taken a load across the phoneline into the modem onto the mb.

if not, then I would reseat RAM , remove any PCI cards, unplug hdds and cd drives. then give it another go.. if still no luck try re seating the processor. after that I would be testing the PSU.

also, just thought, make sure the keyboard and mouse are the right way round on the ps2 ports.

Is there a on-off "rocker" switch near the power plug on the computer? Usually marked I/O. Should be on "I" for "IN

Depending on the model, the board may have a RAM LED. If it does, and it is not lighting up, it may well be the power supply. I have known a number of Pavillion PSUs to give up after not being used for awhile
