Hello,
The integrated graphics on an HP Pavilion a1323w
has failed. I tried an old PCI card I had lying around and the machine works. My question is if I want to replace the integrated video with an expansion card, what would be a comparable PCI video card or possibly a PCIe card?

Thanks

It looks like you are in luck!
This machine appears to be based on an ATI Express 200 chipset based motherboard that has support for the latest PCIe interface, so a better replacement should be fairly easy to find.
One word of warning: these machines do not tend to come with particularly high rated power supplies which will rule out more power hungry cards, unless you upgrade the PSU at the same time.
This link does list the motherboard so I suggest that you do a bit of research for your best options but at least they will be PCIe.

Thanks for the reply paparazi but I'm not really looking for an upgrade card more like something comparable(in capabilities) to the onboard graphics (budget repair)

Then may I suggest an entry level ATI X300 which will be about as cheap as you will find and with slightly better performance than onboard (better is unavoidable because it's dedicated and not integrated lol)

Thanks paparazi that's what I was looking for and certainly cheap enough
