Does anyone know what the path limits are for saving files... I have a user that likes to put in very descriptive folder and file names. It is quite common for this user to have a file saved 5-8 folders deep with each folder containg 20-25+ characters per folder as will the file name us usually quite long.

There has been times when trying to move these folders we get errors, but it seems if we shorten the names in the path it works.

255 characters for NTFS 4. You can always map a virtual drive with the subst command to get around this problem.

Is there any changes to these limits for Server 2003..?? I am migrating from NT4 to 2003 Server..

Is there a dif between a network drive and virtural drive.?? or are they the same thing..??
