While patching a solaris 9 box, the patch did not install correctly. When I try to remove the patch I get
"Patch 118558-28 was installed without backing up the original files.
It cannot be backed out"

How can you make the system think it is on patch -27 so that patch -28 can be reloaded? I have the -27 patch on the box.

jhahs;

The only way I have heard of to fix this is restore backup that was created before installing the -28 patch. FYI do not run patchadd with -d as this will not create the backup files and you will then not be able to remove installed patch.

Thanks

I have have had problems like this before.

droped down to single user mode

I forced a re-install of the patch

patchadd -u 111111-11

Removed the patch in question

patchrm 111111-11

worked for me!
