paste special not working like it used to

I have always selected a cell from one worksheet and used Paste Special into another worksheet by selecting Value on the Paste Special dialog box.

It usually shows a formula like =Disbursements!$G$3 in the cell where I paste. It no longer will do that for me. It is not interactive either.

What am I doing wrong? When I paste using the All button I get a REF error.

Excuse me for saying this, but are you sure your memory is not playing tricks on you? I have been using Excel for 15 years, and doing Paste Special Values has never resulted in the target cell having a formula.

Also, what do you mean by "It is not interactive either."?

Are you trying to do Edit/Paste Special/Paste Link?

Thanks for getting back so quickly!

About five minutes after posing the question, I remembered what went wrong. I had forgotten to allow the default All to be selected. Then the Paste Link button was able to be used.
