paste a formula into a colum

i know its easy to paste a formula into a colum as(D11000).
has any one any ideas on how, to only paste the formula in colum "d" only to the last row of colum "C"

thank you for your quick response,i think i have misled you

If in colum "D" i wanted to have the formula say "=sum(c1+8)" to be coppied and pasted into colum "D" and only to be pasted to say row 1000, which is the same row as colum "C" finishes at.
