Passwords are not Saving

Hi this may be a silly question... but is there a setting in Windows 2000 to overide the save password checkbox... It is a single computer... No Domain or anything like that. I check off save this password ... In Email settings as well as internet explorer next time i go in ... no password :mad: any suggestions???
