HI I was wondering if there is any way we can set our password policy to be more restictive then what is allowed. Currently under Windows NT4.0 SP6 we can only set the character length, previous password remember and experation time. We just set up a VPN Server and would like to force more dificult passwords. Is there any fre utils, tricks or good third party software that will do this?

Trouble is, application programs cannot examine user passwords. That's a security thing, for which I suppose we should be grateful.

To do this look for password.dll on the Microsoft web site. This allows you to enforce strict passwords. For example a password must consist of upper and lower case letters, symbols and numbers. I believe this is the dll, if not go to http:\\support.microsoft.com and do a search for "strong paswords"
