The "guest" PC with WindowsME is linked to the "host" with WindowsXP via wireless on home network. The host is linked to the Internet by ISP RoadRunner. RR assigned a password and all mail functions work on the host.
On the guest, no password was ever required for inbound mail. Suddenly one is required. (Outbound mail works.) I go to PROPERTIES to make sure the password box shows a blank (I don't want a password here) but, no help. If I make up a password, one is still required before I can access incoming mail. I double-checked the home network wizard to make sure no password is required.
The condition started on the day our girls downloaded songs and played with the Sims program. Where to go from here?

if i'm understanding your post correctly, the properties location that you are makeing sure does not have a password in it (because you don't want one there) NEEDS to either have a password or you'll have to type one in everytime you try to download email. is the "properties" location you spoke of from tools>accounts>select your email account> click properties? "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

oh, by the way. you cannot make this password up. it is from your ISP. "Jack of all trades. Master of none."

Thanks. My ISP gave me a new password.
