I have a server running Red Hat 6.2 which I want to connect to through my Win98 machine. I'm running Samba 2.06.

Everything was working fine until a few days ago, when I had to restart my Linux server. Now whenever I try to connect to the Linux box from my Windows Explorer, it asks for a password. I've tried every password that I use. It tells me that it's an invalid password.

My Windows machine is connected to the network through Novell Netware.

My username and password for Novell and Samba are the same.

I've also reset my samba password through Linux.

Nothing seems to be working.

Any ideas????

Have you tried connecting with a different user name, and/or creating a new user for use with samba?

are you sure the samba daemon is running?

as root, issue the command "samba stop"

then "samba start"
