I need to get my computer in to the repair shop to replace a faulty DVD drive. I do not want to offload my personal files from the hard disk. Is there any way I can use a password to protect just those folders from being viewed, while leaving the rest of the system operational?

You could also try Magic Folders which works well so I hear.

I use one called Paranoid which also works well. You can get prnoid14.zip free here:

A tip: If you unprotect a folder with Paranoid and it won't open, just close windows explorer and reopen it and then the folder will open.
