Why will a mapped network drive on XP ask for a password? It only happens when the user computer has been restarted.

A little more on it, they didn't have a password on any computers set up for years. Now all of a sudden, they decide they need one. That's when the problem started. There was no problem until they did that.

Usually if simplified sharing is disabled and the user credentials on the client machine do not exist on the host machine.

You will be better off resetting the shares and using the connect with a different user setting as well as reconnect at logon.

The real world is not about exam scores, it's about ability.

Thanks a million guys. I'll check that out.
