was useing puter without problem. disconnected all cables and moved it to another location(in the same room). reconnected all cables. when logon screen came up, typed in password but it was not recognised. Now cannot start windows, tried in safe mode, same result. Is there anyway to get around this.I assume that I will be able to extract my data useing an external adapter, but would prefer to use as is.

Since the computer was moved... make sure if caps lock was on before, make sure it is on now (or if caps lock was off before, make sure it is off now).

thanks Frank4d for the thought but thats not the solution. Is there a way to get in with the command prompt?

Maybe the new location is bounded to another domain. Are you loggin with a local or domain account?

Cheers,
Dian

If all else fails I use ERD Commander 2005 Locksmith, I have people drop off PC's to be fixed and I have never been given a pass word yet. I just use Locksmith and reset it. I guess if the people was smart thay would not have goten there PC's all hosed with viruses and spy ware to begain with, or could have fix it them selfs.

ERD Commander has saved me several times. Allteltec, if everyone was smart enough to fix their own PC's we'd be out of a job. Besides its more fun to pick on the people when they hose their own system.

But ERD is not a free choice I found an article here: that has some good tools for free.

Cheers
Rob
