Passing Parameters - ColdFusion

I am trying to pass parameters from the URL to the .rpt file. What I have is a coldfusion page in which the users put in a date range. I want to pass those 2 parameters to my Crystal Report. I can't seem to find any good documentation on how to pass parameter in. can anyone point me to some examples or provide me with some idea how to begin. I can get this to work all within CR, however, my manager does not like the default CR parameter screen...that is why I am trying to customize it using our standard Cold Fusion page.

I am using CR 8.5.
