I have a prompt page that asks users to either select a number, or its corresponding name. That way if they know the number, but not the name, they can select the number, and the corresponding name will pop up. If they know the name, they can select the name from the drop down, and the corresponding number will pop up.

In my value list for the numbers, all is well. In my value list for the names, each name repeats anywhere from 4 to 9 times. When I select a number, the wrong name pops up, and when I select the name, the wrong number pops up. Ideas? Suggestions?

Do you mean you are using some construction with cascading prompts? What do you mean by pop-up? Is the second prompt populated by the first or do you have a report page where the pop-up appears.
I have a little trouble in imagining what you have actually build. Can you give use the query definition behind the prompts?

Ties, I figured it out...but it took some time.
Yes, the second value prompt is populated based on the value selected in the first prompt...

1=Red
2=Blue
3=Green

Two value prompts, one showing the numbers, and one showing the names. If the user selected 1, then the 2nd value prompt would auto submit and display Red. If the user selects Green, the numerical value prompt would auto submit and return 3. So depending on which value prompt the user selected, the other would display the corresponding data. Sorry...I'm crappy at explaining stuff sometimes.

But you bring up questions about cascading prompts. I didn't have to cascade anything...and wonder if you could give me a bit of info about that. Also...Where do I get the query definition? I have 10 separate queries on this report.

Thanks so much for your help. :)

What you describe : "Yes, the second value prompt is populated based on the value selected in the first prompt...
" is what is commonly known a 'cascading' prompt.

The query definition can be fetched by selecting a query in query panel and then Tools --> Show generated SQL/MDX

I'll have to get some more info on cascading prompts.

Thanks for answering my questions. I appreciate your help :)
