parvdm.sys error 1

Hi! Getting a Parvdm.sys error (shows up in the event manager). When this happens, the computer freezes and must be restarted. I did reserach on the web, downloaded a new "parvdm.sys", copied over the existing, and still getting the same result. This happens on average two to three times per week. Cannot narrow down why. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

There are several suggestions about re-assigning parallel devices that are connected to other LPT ports, and that fundamentally this is an interaction with other devices using parallel ports (notably HP laserjets).

Try again, as it appears a trial and error process to eliminate the problem:
