Partner ACS - Incoming Call Issue

Partner ACS R5 with POTS lines, issue developed about a month ago. Outgoing calls work normally but incoming calls fail to ring into the system

The line has been swapped with known working trunk ports on the system and still doesn't ring in. When connected to a butt-set, the line rings into it properly but gives an odd ring tone on the butt-set, while all other working lines onsite give the normal ring tone on the butt-set when they ring in. The line has normal voltage as well.

Is this something on the carrier side as far as how they have the line configured? Is it not ringing into the system because the system doesn't recognize the ring tone?

How are the POTS lines delivered from the Telco? Direct from the CO, Some CLECs IAD off a T1, some SIP device?

Check all the usuals for each line, Off hook DC, on hook DC, Ringing AC etc. When the ACS does not detect ringing, how many FXO lines are in use? What is the Rennof the ACS ports, does it exceed the Ren of the device providing dialtone?

Avaya's legacy systems are designed to Bellcore standards, so they can be finicky when signals deviate too much.

I agree with nt8do9 that the the ringing voltage & frequency might be out of spec enough that the Partner doesn't recognize it.

Another thought, is the line in question subscribed to a service like distinctive ringing? 🤔

One last thought....would it be doable to upgrade the processor to an R8? Partner hardware isn't getting any younger and so swapping out older processors with the final release might be worth considering. 🤔

The Partner is a simple key system. It expects simple CO line standards. Not much programming involved. Could be a problem with a system that went end of life a decade ago but I would doubt that unless the hardware is failing. It was a rock solid system in it's day but the sun went down a while ago. More than likely a provider issue but good luck getting them to fix it.

AC voltage. 18 to 80 volts. If voice over ip. The port on the modem is normally bad. Can reset modem just as a test….

Recheck signal at the d-mark then wiring to cpe.

The Partner ACS is looking for:

-48Vdc (on hook).
90Vac @ 20Hz (ringing voltage).
