Hi All
Am Just about to add an external 300 gig drive purely for the purpose of music storage. Am wondering if there is any advantage in partitioning this drive at all?
It will purely contain wav and mp3 for archiving with no operating system considerations. I would welcome any opinions.
Thanks
Steve

Probably the only advantage will be ease of use, i.e. one partition for WAV files, the other for MP3's...

ROGER - G0AOZ.

Utilities <chkdsk, dfrag etc> wil not go on forever if you do make partitions. Partitions could also make backups easier as you would be backing up smaller chunks. I broke mine up as the above user suggested and usit as suggeseted. diff partitions for diff type stuff.

Thanks to both of you for your advice
Steve
