Hi there,
Which is better in terms of security - EM or Query Analyzer. For remoted usage of my database by my clients, which is secured.
One more question, is there anyway to disable EM or Query analyser from the Client's access. If the client has the right connection details, he can connect thru both em and qa. If EM is not secured, how can I restrict the client from using Em.

Cheers

The security is based on the user ID, not on the client (EM or QA) being used. So, from a security standpoint, both are the same.

From a "stumbling into trouble" standpoint, QA is probably safer.

You could implement Application Role security, but this may be more involved than what you want to do. Robert Bradley

Thanx foxdev,
I asked the security question, EM vs QA because, I had a problem with EM. This is my scenario:

User is user1 and he is the db_owner. When I login as user1 thru EM, and Im trying to access his database's tables, it prompts - Login failed and asks for the userid and password again. If the password is correct, then it shows the records. When I try the same thing in QA, try to access the same table, it shows me the records without prompting for a login. Ive checked for the ownership issue also. user1 only owns the table.
Is this an additional level of security adopted by EM.
