Palm III xe - trying to sync with NT4 workstation

Trying to hook up Palm III xe for user on NT4 Workstation.
Connected to serial port com1 - IRQ is 4 - no error messages in event view. Hook up on 95 and runs fine. On NT4 box can find local connection. Have uninstalled and reinstalled, no errors occur upon installation. User is aministrator of laptop (Dell C600 laptop)

Any thoughts??

Check in the control panel for a UPS icon. If it is there it may be configured for the Com1 interface, and thereby tying up the com1 resource. This will prevent the port from being available for HotSync Manager. This is the case even if you have no UPS.
