Paging port on PARTNER R7

I recently replaced a PARTNER II with a R7. The documentation recomended that I convert my highest number line port to page, and so I did. Everything indicated that the change was made, but I70 would not work. I started backing up one port at a time until I came to #5 before it worked. That was OK I move the lines around to compensate.
The problem is now that there is a spurt of what sounds like "feedback" at the end of a *I70 transmission. This configuration has worked perfectly since 1993 on the PARTNER II The only way I can stop the spurt is use the *71 option, which is not an acceptable permanent solution.

Is there any other info on the R7 other than the provided CD? Any help appreciated.

Hi GilGilmore,
You should be able to use any CO port except ports on a 206 card. The documentation recommends using port 5 (last on that card). Port 5 has contact closure as well, you don't need that at all. Therefore, you can try to assign this to a different CO port, maybe that will fix your problem.
When paging, hang up with your finger on the hookswitch to avoid all the "clunking" as the receiver is replaced.

Wether or not you need the contact closure depends on the paging amplifier - PagePacs made my Harris, which is about the same vintage as the Partner II that was replaces do require the closure.
