I have 3 facilites with Avaya 406 3.2 release. I'd like to setup paging (just one-way page) from 1 facility to another. Can anyone give me some suggestions? Thank in advance.

Danny

To the overhead paging. We want ability to page other facilities as well as other facilities can page us through overhead paging.

Overhead paging through analog station port? This is what I prefer.

Yes Overhead through paging station port. I assume we have to use the short code. Can you give me a sample?

Thanks

If you simply use a station-level paging adapter (connects to an analog station or CO line and answers incoming call, connecting audio to page amplifier/control input), all you need to do is dial the analog extension. Makes this VERY easy.

If your remote system already has a code set up then match it in your main system and change the line to the line id of the IP line. I have a site like this.

Main site
SC #96
Feature dial
tn #96
Line 51

Remote site
#96
Dial paging
TN N
Line 0

You want to send the short code from one site accross the IP line and have it dial whatever the remote site dials for the local paging.

Hope this helps

For one, the other, or both.

To overhead, and phones.
SC=*87
dial paging
TN=Hung group with analog paging ext, and digital phones in it. for instance, HG5200 group, no VM, no Que

To overhead only
SC=*88
dial paging
TN HG w/just paging ext in the group. same HG parameters as above.

I assume you know how to do one to page just the phones.

On the analog ext paging port.
Set ext to speaker. off for caller display type, MWL inidication type=None
Set user to no VM

connect the tip and ring on the analog station port to a wmt1-A matching transformer that comes inside the UPAM box. { you can get these seperate also from the UPAM]
Connect tip/ring to the screw down terminals, the RCA plug to the HI-Z rca input on the amp{AUX input}

You do not need a UPAM, or anything else for paging.

You might need to reboot the ipo with all this connected to get the analog station port to go into, and stay in an off hook status, in order for the port to stay open to let the paging signal through to the amp.

From the other sites via the wan, KWING has it all down above.

Thank for all your help. Arrenot, I have a valcom loudspeak with its own power. I try to hook it up with our IP office. I've been unsucessful. Do you know how to hook this up. I'd like to consult you and pay you a fee if you like. Can you contact me at ddo@dameron.net.

Thanks

Danny

Do you have somekind of page controler? You will most likely have to hook it up to the Tip and ring input as a trunk port. Then change the trunk port to loopstart and then put it in its own incoming and outgoing id. Then make a short code to pick up on the line.

something like this
SC #95 or something
TN N
Feature: Dial
Line group whatever you made the outgoing line id of the trunk.

If you have a controler then when you dial the code you should get either a tone or dialtone and then enter the access code for the page.

There is another type of paging system which does not have a centralized amp. This type of system has a power supply, and speakers only. This speaker type will have 4 wires to connect on the speakers. Is this the type of speakers you have, or just two wires coming off the speakers?

Aarenot you are right...all our speakers are horn type. with 4 wires. 2 for power supply and T and R.

Anyone has any ideas how to setup paging with Valcom speakers? Please contact me ddo@dameron.net

Thanks

Danny

You can try building an analog station and then make a short code to dial page the extension.

Example
Station 200 change to page speaker under extensions
Build a user named paging wiht ext 200
Short code
SC 600
Feature dialpaging
TN 200
Line 0

I got the part working. My problem is having Valcom speaker work with UPAM. I just can't seem to get any tone out of UPAM.

When you say tone do you mean voice tone or like a preannounce tone? I have found that the UPAM needs to be powered off and on after you wire it up.
