Well I only get the blue screen of death when I play any games. It doesn't happen right away, the system could run from 10-45 min at a time then BOOM!PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA : ntoskrnl.exe

Microsoft said Page faults are caused by hardware drivers but I'm sure that isn't the problem because I use the computer for graphics and video editing and it has never crashed when I'm working. Some of the rendering I do can take days and it runs fine.

My BOX Windows 2000 PRO Service Pack 4 and all the software and drive updates.
P4 2.4 (not over clocked )
768 MB DDR RAM
160 GB Maxtor 7200 2MB Drive
GeForce 4 TI 128MB 4200
Creative Labs EXA Audigy 5.1
and the rest or that stuff to make the box work

I did a fresh install to see if that would fix the prolem but NOooooooooo!

Thanks

Video driver.
Do a dxdiag
Even if it passes cleanly, upgrade the drivers.

Thanks for your reply, however I just downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia and still the problem is there. This is realy starting to grinded on me, Shold I move on to XP? I can't see that fixing the problem because XP is the same as Windows 2000 with a flashy front end.

Microsoft said the problem is with hardware and drivers but all this gear worked in win98 just fine for gaming. I upgraded to Win2000 to make it more stable for my work apps.

*sigh* Still looking for help.

Computers are like a bag of hammers, they won't do a damn thing until you pick it up and SMASH something with it!!

Win98 does tend to be more tollerant of faults, I'd still put money on drivers as bcastner says however.

Try an older set of drivers as a comparison.

Hi there,

I had this problem with WinXP Pro, and was just about tearing my hair out. Tried new MB, RAM, Vid Card. In the end found out the culprit. It turned out to be the version of ZoneAlarm Pro i was running. After updating to the latest version, the problem has now gone away.

This may be worth a try if you are running ZoneAlarm

Cheers,

Paul

Ok....Just thought I would let you all know that I downloaded the latest updates from Microsoft including the ones I didn't need and now the problem is gone!!

I over clocked my CPU and Video card to the max and now my system is a little hot but rock solid! No Page Faults and no crashing, can you beleve that? Would someone pinch me.

Thanks for your input

Rob
