Page Numbers not printing Correctly in Word 2

We are having a problem printing Word2000 documents. The page numbers print out 1 of 1, 2 of 2, 3 of 3 instead of 1 of 3, 2 of 3, etc..

I found that this was a problem in Word97, but could not find any similar issues in Word2000.

The suggestions for fixing Word97 do not apply to Word2000.

Its a compatablity problem found with 97 and 2000.

When i was at college certain people who had 2000 had this problem (when brought in to print on 98), and we all presumed it to be a compatability bug. We used to just delete the footer, and re-do

A few things to try:

Reverse the print order under Tools, Options, Print

Switch into Print Preview and back a couple of times.

Under Tools, Options, Print, make sure you have the “Update fields” option checked

Clear the check box for “Background printing” on the same tab.

Make sure that nonprinting characters are hidden (toggle the Show/Hide button to Hide)

One these will hopefully work.

I had the same problem and used the Print in Reverse Order to fit it. A little bit of an inconvenience with multi-page documents, but had no choice.

I could not find the last one about Nonprinting Characters Hidden. Where is that located?

Great! Excellent! Thanks all for your replies. The problem was fixed by unchecking the background printing box. The reverse page printing worked as well.

I've had this problem for a while but could not find a solution. Unchecking the Background Printing worked for me as well.
