I've finally switched to OS10 and Quark 6. There is a very annoying problem with the Page Layout Palette. The palette often "loses" its bottom half. So I have no pages showing, beyond the first ten or so, nor do I have the scroll arrows to work up and down my palette. Quitting Quark and reopening the documents helps, but then it starts all over again while working on it. I don't have time to keep quitting and starting up again over and over. I know you can work through the document with the "hand" but that is not practical for my purposes.

Thanks in advance.

I've had the same problem, but it does not happen very often. I expanded the Page layout window, then resized it manully. It hasn't happened often enough to diagnose the cause so I'm no help in explainig it. Also, there is an arrow next to the page number in the lower left hand corner that will take you to any page in your "project". Hope this helps.

Thanks, it happens often enough to me. There must be a fix out there somewhere. As to the lower left hand corner, I never used it, but it reminded me of my PageMaker days, where I was addicted to it. I'll have to try to use it again now in Quark.

Yes, I have this problem as well. Has anyone figured out a fix since the July postings? I close and reopen the window, but it is very annoying.

Another thing on the page layout window that bugs me is the width. In previous versions of Quark you could resize it to be quite narrow, but now it is wider and won't go any narrower. Takes up valuable screen space. Does anyone know of a setting to change this. I only need to show a 1- or 2-page spread, so don't need the big width.

Thanks.

Hi pobajo
If you are running Quark 6.0, I would get the free update to 6.5.
Then check the QuarkXPress folder in side the Applications folder and see if it has a folder named Preferences, if not then create one.
Also open or create a new document and create a text or picture frame and see if Yearbook, Certificate Deco Shadow are missing, if so then this may be what you need to do.
Quit Quark then go to Applications folder then find your QuarkXpress folder. Inside the QuarkXPress folder there is a folder named For System, open that folder up and inside is an item called QuarkXPress Components double click on that icon and then choose your Quark folder for the installation and that will install the missing borders the initial installation did not install plus a lot of other components. This will install those missing frames and also seems to help with the highlighted text hanging up.
You will then be able to use these borders, Yearbook, Certificate, Coupon, Deco Shadow, Deco Plain, Maze, Ornate, Op Art1 and Op Art2.
Hope this helps.
