page faults problem

Hi there, just new with the AIX 5L. Whenever we run the oracle/java application we are encountering a lot of page faults on memory. I used the command topas to monitor it. With these problem the system will just hang after a few hours and no one can login. What are the things that I need to check and configure on the AIX and on the oracle side. Currenly we are using Pseries 6E1 2-way with 2048 Mb of memory..

Page faults are not a problem.
I page 'fault' only means that the process requested a page for the first time or a page that has been put in paging space.

The term 'fault' is misleading and is not the reason for your problem.

While installing Oracle on AIX 52 exiting the installer will cause the system to crash. We are also experiencing this with our 650's and 630's. IBM has offered us kernel patch but it is not quite working correctly yet.

Thanks for your response. After a few days of monitoring the problem we found out after running the oracle with jave we are experiencing a paging space problem. Based on topas output, the java eats up to 90.5 after starting it. We try to increase the filesystem and add to other disk but still the same. The java will eats up a lot of paging even there is no user. The system will just hang after few hours.

Currently there are 2048 MB of memory, 3 disks (1 x 18.2 Gb for rootvg and 2 x 73.4 GB for data and application).

Is there any tuning do i need to do on the java or OS? Any patches or fixes do i need to load.
