OWA login problems

Can login directly to the virtual directory using

http://ip/virtualdirectory.

Type username and password works fine.

If I use the OWA server though it authenticates for OWA and then asks to authenticate to the actual server. So you get two authentication boxes. After you enter the same credentials again it opens owa.
What could be causing this?

I 'guess' you are configured for too much authentication.
Now, there is never a 'too much' in security, but if you don't want it, check your authentication settings on the Exchange Server. Chekc Help to see where they are used.
