Overwriting Disk Media

I have a backup up device folder that holds media for 7 backup jobs. When the jobs first ran media was created. All the jobs are set to allow media overwrite so that the week one job is overwritten by the week 2 job... works fine. However, some of the jobs have grown in size...and now the first 5 jobs run and then a portion of the set is overwritten by the final 2 jobs.

I'd like the jobs in this "weekly" media set to allow overwrite once a week but not during the weekly job itself.

I tried setting the overwrite protection period to 6 days...but the jobs begin to fail after the initial jobs use up the media. I have tried moving old disk media into the scratch media folder but the set continues to overwrite itself rather than grab the available scratch.

Suggestions?

Check the media overwrite option.

Tools - Options - Media Management - media Overwrite options

If not already set, change to this setting:
"Overwrite scratch media before overwriting recyclable media contained in the target media set"
