We have a number of reports which are scheduled to run on a daily basis at around 7am each morning all these jobs are dependant upon a trigger(which is present every morning).

These reports have run correctly for months but recently we have found that 7 or 8 of the jobs will run through successfully then for some reason the other reports which are scheduled will stay at pending and will not move from pending until we go into Crystal Enterprise and schedule another(none daily) report to run. This then makes the next daily report which is scheduled to run run. However after this report has run to trigger the next report from the daily schedule to run we have to again go in a request another none daily report.

Any advise, this has only happened a couple of times but seems to be happening more regularly.

Thanks in advance

Your issue probably has to do with the timing of your scheduled reports.

If you schedule a report to run @ 7AM based either on the completion (sucess, failure or either) of a previous report or based upon a file being dropped then Crystal will start looking for that event to happen after 7AM, pending the report until it does occur. If the trigger event occurred at 6:59AM then the scheduled report will stay in pending status until the event is satisfied (normally, the next recurring run). This is because the event had already occurred by the time Crystal started looking for it.

Take a good look at your event timing and its dependent scheduling and you can probably work it out.

Thanks for this but I dont think this is the problem(I know you are the expert). The reason I say this is all overnight jobs run off the same trigger and half the jobs run then suddenly on this one job at always around 7:31am about once a week the second half of the overnight jobs stop until we set a none overnight report to run every two minutes and each time this report runs it then allows one of the overnight jobs to run after it.

Any other ideas...

Thanks again

Please provide detailed information. What type of event triggers the jobs, file or schedule? How often does the event occur? How many reports are there? At what day and time is each report scheduled? Are they all scheduled at the exact same time?
