Overhead Paging 1

I've looked through the forums and haven't quite found an answer.

To dial an overhead page - one dials 7400, this sends the page through our entire hospital.

To dial the Pharmacy only - one dials 7300.

Someone in Pharmacy accidentally dialed 7400 and - of course - everyone heard it outside of Pharmacy as well.

I have been asked if I can disable the Pharmacy phone from being able to dial 7400.

I do not know how to do this ?

How do you stop patients from dialing 7400? How about that clerk in Transcription, or that little old lady in Laundry? She has a hidden side!

Usually, it is done from TGAR and TARG. Unless 7300 and 7400 are extensions. I suspect they are Route Access Codes, where TGAR and TARG will work.

Here is an explanation of TGAR and TARG

I found the paging route and there is no TARG assigned, TDS Telecom assigned a TGAR of 1 to all phones when they installed our system.

Wow! So I am guessing that yes, patients call dial overhead. So if I add a TARG of 1 to the route, what would I need to do to the 2250 console? I do not even see an option with TGAR, If I print the tnb for the console, this is not one of the entries. I still need Pharmacy to be able to dial their paging zone, but not the whole hospital. As the ACOD is 78, if I restrict Pharmacy - it would probably restrict them from paging internally as well - just my guess. Any thoughts? Thanks for your help - and your very helpful documents.

Personally, I would change the Route Access Codes to 6 or 7 digit (non-DID range) random numbers, and only tell the people that need to what what the numbers are.

That is the simplest fix, and demonstrates some proactive security.

Also set the TIMR TFD to 60, so nobody can hold their MP3 player up to the handset and send an hour of Rap music into hallways. They would only be able to send a minutes worth.

Thank you - as we do have a service contract - I will be putting in a ticket to have this resolved. We do not want our patients announcing overhead pages :)

You can simplify things by making a HOT D button that dials the complicated Page Access Code.

On the Console, it is a AUTO, or "Autoline" key. Avoid ADL on Consoles because they will change them by accident. AUTO keys cannot be changed by an Operator.

There you go. Let TDS answer to it...they should have made a system that kept the paging somewhat secure, and it should have been part of the install.

Patient Confidentiality is at stake here too. Let's say some Doc is giving an exam and inavertantly finds he is paging his results over the speakers. TDS should have known, that is no joke.
