Overgrown Context Menu

I am using Windows 98SE.

When in Windows Explorer the right click context menu has grown so large it has scroll arrows top and bottom.

Does anyone know how I can delete entries which now refer to uninstalled programs? Are those items stored somewhere in a Windows folder like the items in the 'SEND TO' context menu? I have Xteq if that's any help and if I have to I will go into the registry if someone knows where I need to drill down to.

Using MS TweakUI 1.33 will allow you to uncheck/remove entries from the context menu.

Click start--run--type regedit and click ok. See if they're listed here:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\folder\shell

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\classes\folder\shell

Click the plus sign next to Shell and see if they're listed underneath. If so delete them.

Before deleting any keys back them up first. To do that highlight the key and then at the top click Registry--export registry file--give it a file name and then save it somewhere. To put that saved key back in the event of a problem just doubleclick on the saved .reg file and merge it.

Berton: Have TweakUI 1.33 but do not see where the context menu can be edited.

Kento: have checked both those keys but no sign of the context menu entries.

I usually just do a sweep of the registry searching for the apps names and the developers names...example:
Zone Labs
Zone Alarm
and some of the phrases I recognize....
you may have already gotten there with Berton's suggestion.
