Over Receive and Effects on Qty On Ord

We have a question on what happens on over-received items and the qty on ord. If we over-receive an item and then unreceive it does that fix the qty on ord or does the "Reset Qty on Order" process have to be run to resolve discrepancies? We are seeing incorrect Qty On Ord a lot through the month and it gets worse. We currently only run that process at the EOM close, shoudl it be run more frequently?

Thank you!

I run the Reset Quantity On Order process whenever a user reports a discrepancy or they receive a pop-up window in the Multi-Level Item View requesting the Reset be run. One of these days I'd like to purchase or write a SQL script to be run as a job to perform the Reset Quantity on Order and the Reset Allocations every night when the factory is down.
I do not believe an over-receipt causes the issue, the un-receipt is more likely the cause.

First off, the items must have controlled flag checked at the item master level in order for Macola to maintain a Qty Allocated or a Qty on Order.

Secondly, reset qty on order does nothing except print a report unless you have the "reset Inventory Trx" checkbox selected.
On the receiving side, did you physically over receive the items, or just keyed too large a number in Macola? If it is the latter you should be fine with a negative receipt.

Question though: Are you using Receiving Inspection in Macola?

Rich,

You can run any Macola report and many processes on a schedule at 3am while everyone is asleep if you want to. This includes reset allocations and reset qty on order. It is called deferred processing and it has been there ever since Progression came out in 1997. Give me a shout if you want to learn how to do this.

Thank you all for the reply. I think we will do the deferred processing, sounds like it would be a great idea!
