Hi,

I am using Outlook2002 as my email client. For a while now my received items have stayed in my inbox, and my outgoing items have stayed in my sent items.

As these were getting quite full, and awkward to find things, I decided last night to have a tidy up. I set up some new folders that were all formatted to contain "post" items. I went through my inbox moving all the emails to the appropriate folders. No problems.

However, when I tried moving a couple of "sent items" to these same folders, they seem to have disappeared without a trace.

Can I not keep sent and received items in the same folder?
Where have those sent items gone?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You an store received and sent items in the same folder, so that is not the problem. My guess is that you either missed and dropped them into another folder, ot perhaps the deleted items by mistake.

I definitely dropped them into the correct folder. I was being cautious because I wasn't entirely sure if they could be stored in the same folder. I dropped one mail item across, and checked. It wasn't in the target folder. I then checked all other folders (including deleted items) and couldn't find it. I then tried with one more mail item, and exactly the same happened.

Maybe I will try again later. However, I would hope that these mails were not lost, but were instead just not being shown. The "current view" settings wouldn't exclude them would they? As far as I know this wouldn't be the case, but you never know.

The "Current View" could have elin\minated them. Look and see if it is set to "Last 7 days" or another time filter. Hope you find them. I know the feeling.

I don't think that there is any time filter applied, as I can see ALL of my received items. I shall have a further look to see if I can find if ANY filters are applied. I certainly haven't set any filters myself though.

You can look by selecting View-Current View (first check the top option, Messages to make sure that time filters are not hindering you.) Then if you still don't see them, look at customize views to make sure no filters are applied. If that doesn't work, send yourself a few messages to test with, and see if they dissappear when you move them into that folder. That way you aren't experimenting with valuable information.

If you still have no luck, do an advanced search for the items that you are missing, to see if they are in another folder.
